Yeaaaaah, but….

I’m not sure what people expect from a woman whose music career involved much of these elements. She’s not Whitney Houston or anything. Her voice alone doesn’t cut it. And Cee Lo and MIA are 37 and 36 respectively. Not THAT young to team up with, no?

But there was an edge to her that was always there. It was (I’ll not say never because that wouldn’t be truthful) not usually her trying to keep up with what was going on…it was her doing whatever the fuck she wanted. And THAT was sexy. Much more sexy than a short skirt, high boots and a bangin’ body.

We all know that her voice was never her strong suit. Hell, SHE even knows that. But that’s never stopped her before and I never thought that her showmanship was to distract you from it; it just was what it was.

To be truthful, I don’t know what I expected either. I actually expected it to be completely awful, so I wasn’t even coming from the right place. But I didn’t expect her to be so………………..desperate? Is that the right word? I don’t know. It was odd.

MIA IS 36?????????? I mean, I knew CeeLo was older — actually I thought older than that — but he’s kind of embraced himself as a kooky weirdo, so it’s not the same thing. MIA is just damn cool (p.s. I totally did not notice her flipping the bird and I really don’t see what the big deal is with that. Sigh….calm doooooooown, people.) as she is. So yes, they’re a little older and more seasoned, but still……not really in the same pool as Madge. They’re still in the pool. Madonna’s on the side of it, under a big umbrella, with a big hat on, because the sun ages you. Catch my drift?

There was just a false feeling about it all. Watch the recordings of the tour she did when Music came out in 2000. That, even though it was 12 years ago, felt more relevant and awesome. She was sexy as all get out. And it wasn’t all writhing and acting like a girl. It was acting like a cool as shit, bad ass woman who was like, yeah, I’m 41 years old! What do you have to say about it!? That was not the same as this.
