trappedintime asked: Well my point is that there aren't any peers her age that are still performing or that would really make sense to involve. Hell, she could barely dance, how bad would it have been with other 45-55 year olds out there? It would have been even weirder. The women who were pop stars in the 80's dwindled away, yet she is still an icon. But the reality is she's a nostalgia act, like most of the other SB halftime acts. It's just nostalgia and we all struggle with how to embrace that as we age ourselves
That’s the thing, though. I think people are disappointed in the idea that she’s a nostalgia act. She shouldn’t be. She never has been. I mean, at least, in my eyes.
Also, Tina Turner was 54 when What’s Love Got to Do With It? the movie came out. And that coincided with a tour. And she did her little Tina walk and strutted across stage and everything. But man, the woman looked 54 and sexy and gorgeous and comfortable in her age and in her skin. She wasn’t trying to be younger Tina. She wasn’t trying to be in with the younger stars at the time (granted, at that time it was more grunge and Alanis Morisette and the beginnings of Lilith Fair and all that, so…yeah…not the same as who Madonna’s trying to keep up with).
My point…Tina didn’t dwindle away. The original article notes Cher, who hasn’t dwindled away. And they were around before Madonna even came on the scene. So…I don’t know. This was just a different Madonna than we’ve ever seen. And, in my eyes, not in a great way. I still love her. I’ll always love her. It was just a little……..nose-scrunch inducing….you know?
