There is truly nothing better than this laugh…

The Georgia Report…months 8 through 10.

Uuuuugh I’m so behind. There’s so much to say about what’s been going on, but now it’s gonna all be condensed into highlights.

Month eight achievements:

image

  • crawling, crawling and more crawling
  • full on sitting up
  • Cheerios!!!!!
  • second airplane ride and a visit to New York
  • her first Chanukah
  • blowing kisses
  • clapping
  • peekaboo (though a weird version where she just puts her hands on top of her head and then pulls them down when she wants you to “see” her…ridiculously adorable)
  • favorite song: Ob-la-di, Ob-la-da
  • favorite food: sweet potatoes

Month nine stats:

image

  • 20 lbs (75th percentile), 29.5 inches (95th percentile) (clearly we’ll still going strong with height. Interesting.)
  • we’re on to stage 3 foods! She can have basically anything except raw honey!
  • I really don’t take advantage of the above as much as I should…we’re going slow, okay?
  • and we’ve achieved sleeping through the night, folks!
  • second cold of her life — and we had a nice two-week run of sleeping through the night, folks. Oh well.
  • says mama (a lot), dada, points at books and says “buh” (genius), baba…
  • is still all about the raspberries
  • third plane trip to Los Angeles to meet her cousins on her daddy’s side
  • pulls herself up
  • cries when most people other than I hold her…oops
  • hates eggs
  • loves waffles
  • A TOOTH!!

Month ten so far:

image

  • ANOTHER TOOTH!
  • eating: peaches, pears, apples, yogurt, oatmeal, peas, carrots, green beans, sweet potatoes, turkey meatballs/meatloaf, lentils, butternut squash soup, waffles
  • no longer likes bananas; like her mama, hates melons
  • still hates eggs.
  • favorite books: anything with Curious George
  • favorite song: You’ve Got a Friend
  • a seriously keener mind…I can’t articulate the difference, but it’s there. She’s like, a person. She understands and responds and is so so with it. It’s incredibly fun.
  • she’s amazingly…how do I describe this…considerate? in her actions. I don’t mean that she’s considerate of other people because she has not learned that trait yet; she’s still all id. It’s that she is very aware of the world around her and thinks about things before she does them. It’s amazing watching her play on her mat with her toys. When she pulls herself up and then wants to get back down, she’s so cautious and graceful in the process. I mean, there are times when she completely wipes out and thuds on the floor. But for the most part, her movements are really kind of beautiful.
  • the above said, I know she’s ready for a nap when she starts bumbling around like a 20-something-pound drunk person. It’s hilarious.
  • she is, without a doubt, the most good-natured baby during the day. Everyone notes how smiley and happy she is.
  • she is, without a doubt, the worst fucking sleeper ever. EVER. No consistency. None. It. Is. So. Frustrating. It is, essentially, her only real downfall.

That all said, we’re pretty lucky. I mean, really. The pessimist in me, though, is very wary of all of this. I think we’ll be paying for this fabulous behavior come puberty. We’ll see though. We will see…
