Preggo minds think alike…
Did you coordinate sweaters on purpose? Because I think that’s better than a corsage!
We totes didn’t plan it, but it does make up for the lack of “prom” decor, doesn’t it?
A picture from the party of me and my surrogate brother, Darren (those that have the Versus channel might know him from his show, Sports Biz: Game On, but I know him as the silly guy who danced his ass off at my bat mitzvah, and sweet sixteen, and wedding). His wife is due about three weeks before me (AND IS SO MUCH SMALLER THAN I AM OMG YOU GUYS I FELT LIKE A BIG HOUSE NEXT TO HER) and so obviously we needed to do a requisite “prom” photo. How I wish we had big ugly dresses and corsages to wear. That would have been awesome.
Ds, holiday parties, registering and all kindsa fun stuff…
This sums up my holiday pretty nicely:
- I’ve seriously missed NY pizza.
- I’ve lived in Chicago too long and have forgotten what a good NY bagel tastes like, because I bought some for my parents’ house from the “bad” bagel place and I thought they were pretty good bagels. Oops.
- My parents hadn’t seen my belly since September and holy moly, it’s BIGGER. They got a big kick out of it.
- Registering for baby stuff is very. overwhelming. And a bit scary. And still kinda fun? Yeah. I mean. Yeah. My mom and sister are hardcore and very helpful, so we trailblazed through the store, but it was definitely a bit harrowing for me. I needed a chocolate chip cookie to get me through it.
- Shopping for a couple more maternity items to get me through these last few months was most fun when the lady measured me for a new bra (which I need). We’ve entered D-range, ladies and gents. Which is very very strange for me. I don’t know what to do with these things!!
- When your parents are being almost too generous with gifting and helping and all that stuff, the least you can do is try to pay for their meals…bagels (win!), pizza (no dice), dinner (win!)…it’s a small pittance.
- I killed all the fun for my mom and sister whilst shopping for the baby’s layette (all the stuff you need for the first three months) (is this a Jewish thing? I think it might be) when I nixed almost every super girlie pink thing they held up, ooing and aahing. They had a lot of fun teasing my abhorrence of all things princessy and I had a lot of fun (and a little bit of frustration) shooting them down. I threw in a couple of pink things to appease them, but mostly because it was all they had!!!!!!! Jeez…can’t I just throw the kid in a cute grey little onesie and call it a day????
- Mom threw a little holiday party on Christmas Day, which was fun and tiring and the seeming beginning of a nice tradition in my parents’ household. Tons of food and sweets and babies and chaos. It was lovely.
- Between all that craziness and the flights and all the babies and stuff just flying around, guess who’s sick again????? OY. Not happy about this. But oh well.
And that’s that. A few more thoughts in a bit. But this nutshells everything, I think.
This is what I get for not posting in a week…
There are so many posts of all of yours that I want to read, but I fear I will never get to them all. I’m hearting all of them in spirit.
Merry Christmas and Happy Chanukah and Happy Kwanza and Happy almost New Year to everyone!
