Turkey chili is so damned easy to make.
And so damned good.
We are a happy family right now.

Dunkin’ Donuts reduced-fat blueberry muffins are delicious.
Just spreading some joy this blustery morning.
The gluten thing? I was wrong. THANK GOD!
Gluten and wheat and whatever are not what is causing my pain. I mean, it can exacerbate it, but it’s not the cause. After careful monitoring of my food intake and when I feel pain and if the two correspond at all, I’ve discovered that it’s more the combinations of things I eat, when I eat them, how much of them I eat at once, and how much water I’m drinking during the day to keep myself level. So I’m just trying to balance real well and keep myself eating more roundly…cutting out the things that really do seem to bother me (I’m looking at you, red peppers from the other day’s Chinese food!). And just drinking a ton of water.
Water is key. Water is grand. Water is of the Gods.
And guess what? In monitoring all this, I’ve felt really good for the past several days (with little bumps in the road here and there, mostly at night, but that’s okay!! I can live with those, for sure!!). It’s great!
And so is pasta! I’m so happy to have it back in my life. I really really am.
7:30am: Whole wheat waffle with crunchy peanut butter
9:30am: string cheese
9:45am: oatmeal
12:30pm: ribollita, leftover from last night. (I’d had two helpings last night, but somehow today’s lunch was just not so enticing to me. What was enticing, you ask? The smell of the breadsticks and sauce my coworker had on his desk.)
1:30pm: breadstick and sauce.
1:43pm: Jamba Juice Pom Paradise.
Baby wants what baby wants.
There’s a deli called Bari. It’s Italian. Things are homemade and delicious. I had an appointment after work last night and Jonny didn’t know if he’d make it to Bari before it closed. I wanted a meatball sub. He suggested a Potbelly’s meatball sub. I stuck to my guns. Traffic was kind and Jonny made it to Bari in time to get the sub from there.
Let me tell you about this sub. I would whisper sweet nothings to this sub. I would marry this sub. I would cradle this sub in my arms forever……….before I devoured it. It is that good. It makes Potbelly’s meatball sub cower in the corner, embarrassed of its own inferiority. Potbelly’s sub! Scoff scoff scoff!! This is the only way to go!
It was also enormous, which means I get a delicious lunch today! Let’s see if maybe I can hold out until at least 11:30 before I break into it.
If you are in Chicago, and you like meatball subs (and other amazing Italian meats and homemade/cured goods), I highly recommend Bari. It is so choice.
